The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maya lands the left hand.
Beck throws a looping overhand right but Maya ducks down to avoid it.
Beck tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Beck takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like John Beck has been cut.
Maya looks to land a combination but Beck avoids it well.
Maya plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Beck. Maya does a little dance to reset his feet.

Maya stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Maya wants it to stay on the feet.

Maya displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Beck throws out the jab.

Maya lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Beck thuds his right hand into Maya's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Maya tries a head kick but it misses.

Beck looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Maya!
Maya wants to control but Beck is having none of it.

Beck goes for an armbar but Maya turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Maya.

Maya decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Maya slips under a jab.
Maya lands a head shot.
Beck misses with a looping right.
Maya throws a combination. Beck tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
A swing and a miss from Beck.

and Beck counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Maya throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maya wants to slow Beck down by chopping away at his legs.
Maya staying out of range there.
Maya keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nice uppercut there from Maya.

The cut above John Beck's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Beck is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Maya misses with a leg kick.
Beck scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A solid leg kick lands there for Maya.
Beck drops his hands momentarily and Maya takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Maya tries a head kick but it misses.
Beck shoots for a double leg takedown but Maya sprawls well. He's pushed Beck's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Maya counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Beck throws a right and a left that both miss.
Beck scores with a hook to the body. Maya takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Beck slips under a jab from Maya.
Maya takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Beck checks a leg kick.
Maya scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maya takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Maya throws a head kick that misses.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Maya takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Beck misses with a hook
and Maya counters with a low kick, right behind Beck 's knee.
Maya lets loose with a powerful body kick. Beck will feel that in the morning.
Beck misses with an uppercut. Maya saw that one coming.
Maya is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Maya moves out of range of the strikes.

John Beck's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Beck's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
