Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pavel Malenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chael Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick has chosen Linkin Park - Leave Out All The Rest as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malenko fails to land with a series of punches.
Malenko lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Patrick at a distance.

Malenko is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Patrick's half guard.
Patrick is looking to escape.

Malenko seems to be looking for submissions.

Patrick wants to control but Malenko is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Malenko is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Patrick doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Malenko.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Malenko closes the distance and clinches.
Malenko prevents a takedown attempt there.

Malenko wants to break the clinch but can't.
Patrick tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Malenko jumps guard and drags Patrick to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Malenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Patrick's guard.

Patrick is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Malenko's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Malenko's back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Patrick doesn't have the hooks in and Malenko manages to turn into his guard.

Patrick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Malenko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Malenko thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Patrick is trying to keep Malenko in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Malenko postures up in Patrick's guard and throws a big left but Patrick blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Patrick shoots in but no luck this time.
Malenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Patrick.

Chael Patrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Patrick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Malenko pinned against the cage. Malenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Malenko moves into range and clinches up with Patrick.

Malenko lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Pavel Malenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Malenko has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Patrick defend it? Malenko steps over the head and cranks it - Patrick is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Malenko!
