Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirk Jaminson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Jaminson shoots in for a takedown but Mendez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd cheers as Mendez lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jaminson doesn't seem phased though.

Mendez is taking a breather. Jaminson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Mendez wants to work for an arm triangle but Jaminson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mendez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendez wants to control the pace but Jaminson is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jaminson is in a horrible position here. Mendez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jaminson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mendez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jaminson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jaminson somewhat.
