PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick Smacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brick Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dick Smacker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brick Stone!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smacker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stone looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Stone prevents Smacker from moving into mount.
Smacker lands a decent elbow from side control.
Smacker cracks Stone with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Smacker stands up.
Smacker moves in looking to clinch but Stone pushes him off.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smacker shoots in but no luck this time.
Stone scores with a nice body kick.
Stone stalks Smacker and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smacker's face. Smacker staggers backwards, shaken.
Smacker is breathing heavily.
Smacker tries to close the distance and clinch but Stone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brick Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stone is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smacker's half guard.
Smacker is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smacker is not content to let Stone control the position.
Smacker is trying to control but can't.
Stone stops Smacker from getting back to his feet.
Stone not doing much here.

Stone is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stone prevents Smacker from improving his position.
Stone thows a huge punch but Smacker dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stone seems to be working for a kimura but Smacker defends the submission attempt.
Stone not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Stone seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Smacker is looking to improve his position.
Stone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smacker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone stalling.

Stone is working for a kimura but Smacker is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stone sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smacker defending well though.
Smacker wants to control but Stone is keeping busy.
Smacker keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Smacker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Stone wants to take a breather but Smacker is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Smacker closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stone's guard.

Stone throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stone is on top in guard.
Stone won't allow Smacker to sweep him here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smacker is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brick Stone dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Stone shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smacker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Smacker controls Stone momentarily but Stone frees himself.
Stone working some strikes from top position.
Stone wants to stand but Smacker is controlling his posture from full guard.
Smacker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stone trying to control but Smacker is working from the bottom.

Smacker working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Stone has passed into half guard!

Stone is looking to advance position but Smacker won't allow it.
Stone thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stone is keen to just control but Smacker is a slippery customer.

Smacker is defending against the submission attempts here by Stone.

Smacker looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smacker blocking the ground and pound attempt from Stone.
Stone wants to pass to mount but Smacker is defending the position.

Stone postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Smacker to stand up.
Smacker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Smacker is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stone sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Smacker. No joy for Stone on that attempt.
Smacker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smacker wants it to stay on the feet.
Dick Smacker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brick Stone.

Smacker closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stone's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smacker won't allow Stone to sweep him here.
Stone is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Stone wants to sweep but no luck.

Smacker stands up from Stone's guard - Smacker perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stone shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smacker as he jumps to the side.
Stone shoots in but Smacker avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Smacker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Smacker laying and praying for a moment but Stone takes advantage and regains half guard.
Smacker missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Stone is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smacker stalling in the clinch but Stone improves position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Brick Stone will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Stone is looking to clinch.

Smacker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smacker throws a leg kick that is checked

and Stone counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Smacker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brick Stone was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Stone throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Smacker.

Stone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smacker keeping full guard, as Stone tries to pass.
Stone wants to control from the top but Smacker keeps moving.

Stone stands up and waves to Smacker to follow him.
A left and a right from Stone both land. Nice combination.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nice sprawl there from Smacker as Stone shoots in.
Nice takedown defense from Stone. No joy for Smacker on that attempt.

Stone moves into the clinch.
Stone keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smacker's efforts to push away.
Smacker wants to stall.
Stone is looking for a takedown.
Dick Smacker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brick Stone.
Smacker tries to score a body lock takedown but Stone shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stone lands a knee to the body.

Stone wants the takedown. Smacker is fighting it off but Stone persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smacker's guard against the cage.

Stone wants to control from the top but Smacker keeps moving.
Smacker is trying to control the position but Stone postures up.

Smacker is working an open guard so Stone takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Stone tries to clinch up.

Stone moves into the clinch successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smacker tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Stone's elbow.

Stone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smacker shoots in looking for a takedown. Stone tries to sprawl out of it but Smacker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stone shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dick Smacker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brick Stone is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smacker throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brick Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
