PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Romano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romano has chosen Almost Easy -- Avenged Sevenfold as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barry Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Romano!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Allen has closed the distance and engaged Romano in a clinch.
Allen has had enough of the clinch but Romano keeps him there for the moment.
Allen lands a damaging elbow.
Allen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Romano.

Romano turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Romano manages to end up in side control.

It looks like Barry Allen has been cut.

Romano keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Allen's head.

Romano is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Romano is trying to control the action in half guard but Allen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Romano is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Allen is just riding it out for now. Romano eventually gives up the hold.
Allen is staying active underneath Romano, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Allen is refusing to be controlled, as Romano sits in half guard.
Allen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Romano doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Allen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Allen tries to clinch up but Romano circles away and keeps his distance.

Romano shoots in but no luck this time.
Barry Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Romano.
Romano shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Allen as he jumps to the side.

Romano shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Allen pinned against the cage. Allen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Allen tries to clinch there but Romano circles away.

Romano closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Romano is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Allen!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
