The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berger takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Berger as he jumps to the side.

Berger thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gomez if he has to take too many more of those.
Gomez throws a wild body kick that Berger sees coming a mile off.

Berger closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gomez's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Berger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Berger has managed to get both his arms back between Gomez's legs - danger averted.
