Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksander Shevchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aleksander Shevchenko will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shevchenko circles away from the clinch attempt
and Shevchenko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Patterson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shevchenko.
Shevchenko leaves Patterson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Patterson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Shevchenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patterson is working away from the top position though.

Patterson shoots in looking for a takedown. Shevchenko tries to sprawl out of it but Patterson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shevchenko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Shevchenko throws a nice looking combination but Patterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Shevchenko comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Shevchenko is fighting off a takedown attempt but Patterson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Shevchenko to the mat. Shevchenko regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Patterson is keen to just control but Shevchenko is a slippery customer.

Patterson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shevchenko is just riding it out for now. Patterson eventually gives up the hold.

Patterson shoots for a double leg takedown but Shevchenko sprawls well. He's pushed Patterson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Patterson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Patterson.

Patterson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Patterson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Patterson prevents Shevchenko from breaking the clinch.
Shevchenko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Patterson after a bit of a struggle.
Patterson is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Patterson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shevchenko's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Shevchenko duly obliges.
Aleksander Shevchenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shevchenko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat.
Shevchenko keeps the fight on the outside.

A punch combination from Shevchenko misses.
Patterson moves in looking to clinch but Shevchenko pushes him off.
Patterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shevchenko tries to avoid it but Patterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shevchenko to the ground. Shevchenko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shevchenko misses with a few strikes there.
Shevchenko fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Patterson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Patterson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shevchenko's guard.
Rocky Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Patterson wants to clinch up but Shevchenko keeps it at a distance.

Shevchenko throws a right hand that Patterson ducks under and follows up with a left that Patterson also avoids with ease.
Shevchenko pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Patterson back to the cage. Shevchenko follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shevchenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shevchenko swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rocky Patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shevchenko tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Patterson easily slips into full mount!
Patterson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Patterson breaks from Shevchenko's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Shevchenko is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Shevchenko is desperately trying to improve his position but Patterson has a good base and remains in mount.
Shevchenko wants to control but Patterson is having none of it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Patterson! Shevchenko is hurt baaadly! Patterson is firing away with more strikes - Shevchenko is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

An intense looking Rocky Patterson took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I got screwed by the judges last time, now I want another title shot!'.
