PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mauri Ruoska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruoska comes to the cage accompanied by Sympathy for the Devil. Moore has chosen Funeral Thirst as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruoska lands a nice shot to the body.
Ruoska takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Moore leaves Ruoska with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ruoska circles away from the clinch attempt.
Moore's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ruoska under the eye.
Moore tries to bum rush Ruoska with a series of wild strikes but Ruoska uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ruoska. Moore does a little dance to reset his feet.

Moore gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ruoska to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ruoska postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ruoska stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moore swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Moore escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ruoska gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ruoska lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Moore is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ruoska throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Moore wants to stand up but Ruoska is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moore is looking for a triangle but Ruoska pushes his legs off easily.

Ruoska drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Moore dives on top into guard.

Ruoska had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moore defends it easily.

Ruoska is pulling down on Moore's head. It's preventing any offense from Moore, at least for the moment.
Moore throws a big elbow that misses.
Moore trying to control but Ruoska is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ruoska looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Moore has closed the distance and engaged Ruoska in a clinch.
Moore tries to score a body lock takedown but Ruoska shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Moore tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ruoska just stands there and leans against the cage.
Moore tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Moore jumps guard and drags Ruoska to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Ruoska stands and throws Moore's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ruoska works to advance to full mount. Moore defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Mauri Ruoska overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Moore takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ruoska is landing with some decent strikes but Moore is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Moore is breathing heavily.
Ruoska is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Moore can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
