Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martti Syrja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cote has chosen Slaughterhouse-The One as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Cote!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote shoots in for a takedown but Syrja shows good takedown defense.

Cote forces Syrja back against the cage and clinches.
Cote tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Syrja smiles and moves away.

and Cote counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cote.

Cote lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Syrja is looking to control Cote's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Syrja avoid being mounted?
Syrja moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cote pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Syrja is keeping the position for now.
Syrja working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cote.
Cote stands and throws Syrja's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Syrja tries to bench press Cote off him but Cote keeps the position.

Cote working the ground and pound but Syrja is defending the strikes.
Cote is looking to take a break and control but Syrja is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Syrja is looking for a sweep.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Syrja shoots and misses

so Cote counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cote stops Syrja from standing up.
Cote is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Cote drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cote jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Syrja not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cote postures up in Syrja's guard and throws a big left but Syrja blocks it.

Cote is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Syrja rolls with it to try and escape but Cote cranks on the arm and Syrja is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
