Maia kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Vida Bandida. Demian Maia could well score a knockout today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia ducks right into an uppercut from Soto.
That kick from Maia tenderised Soto's leg. Soto is trying to keep his angry face on.
Soto attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Soto's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Maia connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Soto scrambles back to his feet.
Soto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maia connects with a leg kick. Soto looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Maia throws a sloppy head kick and Soto moves out of range easily.

Maia swings wildly with an uppercut but Soto uses good head movement to avoid it.

Soto dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Maia. That did some damage!

Soto walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maia dips a shoulder and cracks Soto with a mighty uppercut! Soto falls back against the cage and Maia unloads with a barrage of strikes! Soto is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Maia screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

A relieved looking Demian Maia thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
