The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avila keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Singh connects with a body shot.
Singh does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Avila shoots in looking for a takedown. Singh tries to sprawl out of it but Avila keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Singh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Avila with that takedown attempt.
Singh scores with a nice head shot.

Singh darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Singh lands with a hook. Avila tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Avila drops his hands momentarily and Singh takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Vijay Singh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singh throws a head kick but Avila moves out of range.

Singh sends Avila crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Singh is motioning to the referee to let Avila up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Avila is rocked!
Vijay Singh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Avila glances at the clock... BAM! Singh nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Avila crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Avila is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
