Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mojo Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nixon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Straight Outta Compton. The key to victory for Mojo Nixon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mojo Nixon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon jabs Alvarez to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Good exchange - Nixon coming out on top.
Nixon fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Alvarez on the side of the head.

Alvarez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Alvarez has Nixon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Nixon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Nixon working hard to break the clinch.
Nixon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nixon manages to break the clinch.
Nixon feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Alvarezs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
No luck for Alvarez with that takedown attempt.
Nixon lands with a straight right. Alvarez didn't see that one coming.

Alvarez clinches with his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nixon breaks the clinch.
Nixon lands a slapping body shot.
Nixon dodges the punch combination from Alvarez.
Nixon punishes Alvarez's body with a nice straight punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarez on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mojo Nixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nixon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Alvarez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Nixon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Mojo Nixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Alvarez.
Nixon lands with a short shot to the head.
Nixon lands a hook to the side of the head.
Nixon wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Nixon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A frustrated look appears on Nixon's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Alvarez looking for a takedown.
Nixon stops a takedown attempt from Alvarez.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez has Nixon pressed against the cage, preventing Nixon from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Alvarez prevents Nixon from breaking the clinch.
Nixon tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Nixon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nixon lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Mojo Nixon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nixon connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Alvarez covering up! Nixon comes in with a big uppercut and Alvarez goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mojo Nixon!
Mojo Nixon is the new bantamweight champion!
A very excited looking Mojo Nixon made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
