Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Reeves!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backstrom connects with a body shot that sends Reeves's belly button to the back.
Reeves looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Reeves tries to close the distance and clinch up but Backstrom swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Backstrom shoots in looking for a takedown but Reeves manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Backstrom's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Reeves gets caught flat footed, as Backstrom shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Backstrom trying to control but Reeves is working from the bottom.
Reeves is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Reeves prevents Backstrom from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Backstrom has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reeves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Backstrom is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reeves defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
