The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Branton counters with a takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Branton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Couture is trying to improve his position.
Couture wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Branton wants to control but Couture is keeping him busy.
Branton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Couture parries the strikes from Branton easily there. Branton is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Couture to escape.
Branton looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Couture is avoiding damage well.

Branton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Couture paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Branton is pressed up against the cage. Couture has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Branton down to the mat. Branton avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Couture throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Branton's waist but Branton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Couture off to one side.

Branton throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Couture wants to take the fight to the mat but Branton manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The fighters circle, before Branton throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Couture's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Branton lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
