Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mathew Drens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Santz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santz misses with a jab, cross combination.
A left lands for Santz.
Drens is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Santz.
Santz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Drens.
A nice combination there by Santz.
Santz lands a jab.
Santz lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Drens backs up against the cage.
Santz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Drens on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Santz scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drens gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Drens closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santz to the mat! Santz manages to get full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Drens content to stall in guard here.
Santz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Santz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Drens kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Drens trying to control but Santz is working from the bottom.

Drens drops back, looking for a kneebar! Santz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Santz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Santz!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drens manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Santz trying to control the action but Drens is working from the bottom.
Drens might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Santz thows an elbow strike that misses. Drens gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Santz doesn't seem too bothered but Drens quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Santz is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Santz really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mathew Drens!
