Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Master Blaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Hershey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blaster comes to the cage accompanied by The Number of The Beast - Iron Maiden. Hershey is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Aztechnical. Master Blaster has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Master Blaster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Hershey!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blaster throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hershey was covering up waiting for the punch and Blaster finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Blaster working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hershey controls Blaster momentarily but Blaster frees himself.
Hershey preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Blaster postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Hershey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blaster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hershey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blaster stands up over Hershey, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Blaster sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hershey's guard.

Blaster looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hershey with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hershey is defending against the submission attempts here by Blaster.

Hershey is staying active underneath Blaster, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Blaster shoots in for a takedown but Hershey shows good takedown defense.

It looks like Master Blaster has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Blaster fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hershey to the ground. Blaster is now in Hershey's guard.

Blaster lands a couple of elbows.

Blaster drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hershey dives on top into guard.

Hershey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are battling for position here. Blaster manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Blaster wants to sweep but no luck.
Blaster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hershey trying to control the position from guard on top but Blaster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hershey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Blaster is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hershey is looking for a sweep. Blaster is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Blaster postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hershey is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Blaster, into his guard.

Blaster working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hershey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hershey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Blaster isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hershey stacks Blaster on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hershey!

That was a close second round but I would say that Master Blaster will probably get the nod.

Hershey is pressed up against the cage. Blaster has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hershey down to the mat. Hershey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Blaster shoots in for a double leg but Hershey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hershey cracks Blaster with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Steve Hershey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blaster shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hershey but Hershey pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Blaster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hershey tries to avoid it but Blaster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hershey to the ground. Hershey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Master Blaster showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Blaster, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
