PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Mote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Emenies by Shinedown as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Mote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brett Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mote gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jackson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mote's guard.
Mote utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jackson stands up and waves to Mote to follow him.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Mote shows good takedown defense.
Mote scores with a spinning back kick!
Mote throws a head kick that half lands.
Jackson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mote.
Mote throws a head kick but Jackson moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mote closes the distance and lands a one-two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A combination from Mote does no damage.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Mote, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Mote against the cage but Mote circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jackson gets a takedown into half guard.
Mote pushes Jackson off looking to stand but Jackson dives back in and keeps control.
Mote blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jackson.

Mote is defending against the submission attempts here by Jackson.
Jackson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jackson slips a nice elbow through Mote's hands, connecting with Mote's forehead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jackson passes to full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mote hang on?
Mote wants to get back to his feet.

Jackson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mote manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jackson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mote looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jackson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mote is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jackson lets go of the hold and Mote can pop his arm back in it's socket.
