The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gale keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Carter explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Carter lands a head kick!
Carter throws a head kick but Gale moves out of range.
Carter looks to clinch
letting Gale counter with a right hand.

Carter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carter defending well as Gale loads up on a big left hand.
Gale lands a nice shot that snaps Carter's head back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gale throws a looping overhand right but Carter ducks down to avoid it.
Gale throws a series of punches but Carter avoids them all with ease.
Carter looks to land a body kick but Gale moved away.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Gale counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gale.
The referee calls for Gale to work.
Gale keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Carter's efforts to push away.
Gale stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Carter is trying to break the clinch but Gale has him pressed against the cage.

Carter wants to get back to his feet.

Gale has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carter's face.

Carter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Carter ducks right into an uppercut from Gale.
The fighters circle momentarily. Gale darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Oh Carter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee is keeping an eye on Gale - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Carter tries to break the clinch but Gale is controlling the position.
Carter seems to have got his legs back now.

Ali Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Carter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Carter is looking to chop away at Gale's legs.
Carter throws a push kick but Gale slaps the foot to one side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gale rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Carter throws a half hearted mid kick.
A left and a right from Gale both land. Nice combination.
Chris Gale seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gale throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gale uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Carter has time to react.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Gale counters with a beautiful punch that sends Carter to the canvas!
Gale postures up and lands a big shot to Carter's brow.
Gale not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gale lands a head shot.
Ali Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Carter throws a body kick that misses.
Gale pounces like a tiger and cracks Carter with a vicious hook! Carter is down but not out! Gale follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
