PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Lang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clayton Page (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Clayton Page was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Lang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clayton Page!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Lang. No joy for Page on that attempt.
Page throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lang misses with a series of wild punches.
Lang throws a left and a right that both miss
and Page counters with a good low kick that Lang was not able to check.
Lang scores with a three punch combo!
Page swings for the body but Lang moves out of range.
Page misses with the combination.
Lang misses with a double jab

and Page counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lang is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Page is controlling him.
Lang trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lang is looking to stand back up but Page counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lang.
Page controlling from side mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lang is trying to buck Page off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Page throws a series of punches but Lang moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Page drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Page controlling the position from side mount.
Lang tries to escape but Page is in control.
Lang is breathing heavily.
Page moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Page advances to mount.
Page looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lang is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Page throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Page sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Lang is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Page controlling the position easily from mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Clayton Page.
Lang throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Page.

Page shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lang is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clayton Page dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Page misses with a jab, cross combination.
Daniel Lang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Page shoots in and bounces Lang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Page prevents Lang from getting back to his feet.
Lang could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Page passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Lang is not content to let Page control the position.
Page on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Page tries to get out of the position.
Page controls the position.

Lang is pushing Page's head away, looking to escape. Page manages to hold on to the position though.

Page is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lang is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lang is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Page has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Lang bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Page looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lang is fending him off so far but Page persists. Nope, Lang circles away and we're back to standing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Page will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lang scores with a three punch combo!
Page walks into a jab.
Page throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lang counters with a series of strikes. Page will be more careful next time no doubt.
Lang misses with a jab to the body
and Page counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Page throws a combination that misses
and Lang counters with a nice body shot.
Page throws a right and a left that both miss.
Page throws a right and a left that Lang avoids nicely.
Lang takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Page connects with a jab.
Page swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Page misses with a few strikes there.
Page lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown by Page or perhaps it was just good defense by Lang which made him look bad.
Daniel Lang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clayton Page.
Lang misses with a wild body shot.
Page getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Lang throws a left and a right that both miss
and Page counters with a left right combination that sends Lang crashing to the mat - Page wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Lang out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clayton Page!
