Coleman comes to the cage accompanied by Start from Scratch. Smith has chosen Me Against The World as his entrance music. Billy Coleman has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Billy Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Smith!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to clinch up.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Coleman circles away.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Coleman, pushing him back against the cage.

Coleman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Coleman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Coleman somewhat.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Billy Coleman has been cut.

Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Coleman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Coleman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.

Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Coleman's guard.
Smith is looking to advance position but Coleman won't allow it.

Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Coleman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Smith doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coleman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Coleman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Coleman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Coleman has Smith in his guard.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Coleman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Coleman has escaped and now he's on top!

Smith closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Coleman did well to prevent Smith getting side control.
Smith thows a huge punch but Coleman dodges it nicely.

Smith wants to stand and escape but instead Coleman has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Coleman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Smith is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Smith and Coleman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Coleman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.

Coleman tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Smith explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Smith ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A left lands for Coleman.
Smith tries to clinch up but Coleman circles away and keeps his distance.

Smith manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Coleman on his heels. He'll look to pass Coleman's guard now, I'm sure.

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Coleman kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Billy Coleman showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Coleman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Billy Coleman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
