Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Rizal!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera with a poor takedown
and Rizal counters with a left and a right that stings Rivera.
Rivera tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rivera shoots and misses

and Rizal counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rizal.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rizal looking to pass the guard.
Rizal trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rizal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rivera is looking for a triangle but Rizal pushes his legs off easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rivera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rizal is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Rizal drops back looking for a leg! Rivera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rivera manages to kick Rizal off! Rizal jumps back into Rivera's guard.

It looks like Rizal might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Rivera is working an open guard so Rizal takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Rizal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rivera is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rizal is looking to take a break and control but Rivera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rivera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rizal pulls his head out easily.

Rizal working over Rivera with some ground and pound. Rivera looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Rizal perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Rivera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rizal pulls his head out easily.

Rizal maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Rivera could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rizal has cracked it and Rivera is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rizal!
