Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Silva!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails to land the takedown.

and Silva counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now.
Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Silva chips away with some ground and pound.

Silva has Gracie pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gracie manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gracie gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.

Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Silva is defending it quite comfortably.

Gracie gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Gracie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gracie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gracie throws a half hearted mid kick.

Nice takedown defense from Gracie. No joy for Silva on that attempt.
Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Gracie sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gracie walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Silva checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gracie is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Gracie circles away and we're back to standing.

Silva keeps control of Gracie as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silva sprawls well. Silva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.

Well Gracie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
