The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Livre there.
Livre throws a right hand that Almeida ducks under and follows up with a left that Almeida also avoids with ease.
Luta Livre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Almeida misses with a straight left.
Livre slips under a jab from Almeida.
Livre throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Almeida seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Livre for as long as he can get away with.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Livre enables Almeida to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Livre manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Almeida has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are battling for position here. Livre manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Livre is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Almeida rolls with it to try and escape but Livre cranks on the arm and Almeida is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
