PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akio Kurosaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cross comes to the cage accompanied by American Badass (Undertaker Theme) by Kid Rock. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aaron Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akio Kurosaki!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kurosaki checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Cross is looking to chop away at Kurosaki's legs.
Cross connects with an inside leg kick.
Kurosaki avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kurosaki swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cross cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kurosaki throws a leg kick but Cross sees it coming and moves out of range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cross.
Cross misses with a low kick as Kurosaki jumps back.
Kurosaki misses with a low kick as Cross jumps back.

Akio Kurosaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kurosaki clobbers Cross with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Cross dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kurosaki. That did some damage!

Kurosaki is looking to clinch but Cross is avoiding it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kurosaki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cross pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kurosaki is out of range and Cross settles back down.
Cross dips to his left and cracks Kurosaki with an uppercut!


It looks like Akio Kurosaki has been cut.

A clash of legs there as Kurosaki blocks the low kick.
Kurosaki tries to work over Cross's front leg with a kick but Cross checks it.
Cross connects with a solid leg kick.

and Cross counters with a nice uppercut.

Kurosaki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cross. Cross obviously looking to wear him down.

Kurosaki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cross could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kurosaki tries to close the distance and clinch but Cross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cross lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kurosaki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kurosaki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Cross throws a low kick, looking for Kurosaki's leg but Kurosaki calmly moves out of range.

and Cross counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Cross lands with a hook. Kurosaki tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Cross throws a low kick, looking for Kurosaki's leg but Kurosaki calmly moves out of range.
Kurosaki throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

and Cross counters with a good low kick that Kurosaki was not able to check.

Cross bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kurosaki throws an off balance right hand
and Cross counters with a good low kick that Kurosaki was not able to check.
Cross is looking to chop away at Kurosaki's legs.
Cross throws a low kick but Kurosaki avoids it.
Kurosaki thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kurosaki throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Cross finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kurosaki moves forwards but Cross connects with a nice, crisp jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cross will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Cross counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kurosaki's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Some bone on bone action there as Cross checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

enabling Cross to counter with a crisp jab.
Cross lands a leg kick that knocks Kurosaki off balance momentarily.
Kurosaki tries to clinch but Cross is having none of it.
Kurosaki stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kurosaki shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kurosaki chopping away at his opponent's legs.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kurosaki tries to clinch but Cross is having none of it.

Kurosaki closes the distance and pushes Cross back into the cage.

Kurosaki tries to land knees in the clinch but Cross avoids the damage to the body.
Kurosaki comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Aaron Cross has been cut.
Kurosaki gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Cross takes an elbow to the forehead.
Kurosaki lands a damaging elbow.
Kurosaki crunches a lovely knee into Cross's ribcage.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Kurosaki lands an elbow inside that Cross shrugs off.
Kurosaki comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Kurosaki connects with a knee to the head.
Kurosaki lands an elbow inside that Cross shrugs off.
Cross blocks an elbow strike.
Kurosaki lands an elbow inside that Cross shrugs off.
Kurosaki is pushing Cross up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kurosaki throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aaron Cross.
I think Cross has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Aaron Cross was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
