Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gemini No Saga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saga has chosen Pegasus fantasy as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gemini No Saga!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saga dives in and scores a takedown into Askren's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Saga throws a big right hand that misses.

Askren had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Saga defends it easily.
Saga tries to free his leg and advance position but Askren is retaining full guard.
Askren keeping moving, preventing Saga from controlling successfully.
Askren on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Askren tries to get out of the position.
Askren wants to sweep here but Saga controlling him for the moment.

Askren is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Saga is aware though and is defending well.

Askren is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Saga keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Askren's head.

Askren escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Saga gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Askren wants to sweep but no luck.

Saga seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Ben Askren will probably get the nod.

Saga closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Saga lands in his opponent's guard.

Gemini No Saga has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Askren shoots in for a double leg but Saga sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Askren shoots in looking for a takedown. Saga tries to sprawl out of it but Askren keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Saga wants to lay and pray for a moment but Askren keeps working.

Saga prevents Askren from getting the reversal.

Gemini No Saga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Askren creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Saga sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Askren sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Saga is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Askren is looking to take a break and control but Saga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Saga's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Saga wants to get back to his feet but Askren drags him back down.

Askren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Saga is just riding it out for now. Askren eventually gives up the hold.

Askren is nestled in close to Saga, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Askren thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Saga's head.

Askren slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Ben Askren tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
