The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pembelton lands a two punch combo.

Grepp uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pembelton.

Pembelton is trying to ground and pound but Grepp uses the momentary lack of control by Pembelton to regain half guard.

Pembelton throws an elbow that misses. Grepp uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pembelton's guard. Nice move by Grepp!
Grepp is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Grepp must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Grepp is pressed up against the cage. Pembelton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Grepp down to the mat. Grepp avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Pembelton has hold of one of Grepp's legs. Grepp is fighting the takedown attempt but Pembelton gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pembelton crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Grepp - the referee stops the clock and Pembelton gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Grepp. Pembelton manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
