Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Uther Champy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diablo Chang!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Chang misses.
Chang slips a jab and a cross from Champy.
Champy looks to score with a jab to the body but Chang is just out of range.
Chang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chang throws a head kick but Champy moves out of range.

Champy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Champy showed some decent athleticism there.
Champy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Chang looks like he's trying to stand up.
Champy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Chang is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Champy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Champy's back!
Chang is looking to control Champy but Champy is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Champy just trying to survive but Chang is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Champy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Champy tries to roll but Chang sticks to his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chang is trying to stick to Champy's back but Champy is turning into Chang. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Chang's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Champy.
Champy postures up and lands a big shot to Chang's brow.
Champy trying to control but Chang is working from the bottom.
Chang is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Champy tries to free his leg and advance position but Chang is retaining full guard.
Chang utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Champy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Champy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Champy connects with a couple of short punches.
Champy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Chang working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Champy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Champy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Champy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Champy is working Chang over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Chang looking for a sweep. Not yet Chang, not yet.

Chang has his foot on Champy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Champy works his way back into a safe position though.
Champy distracts Chang with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Chang is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Champy defends well.

Chang looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chang looks winded!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Champy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Chang has his foot on Champy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Champy works his way back into a safe position though.
Champy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chang's guard.
Champy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Chang looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Champy lands strikes from half guard.
Champy looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Champy passes the guard and advances to mount!
Champy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Chang is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Champy! Chang is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Uther Champy!
