PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Sash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dova Lova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sash kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bis Das Blut Gefriert. Don Sash has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Don Sash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dova Lova!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lova throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sash was covering up waiting for the punch and Lova finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lova stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sash swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lova is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lova wants to control from the top but Sash keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A swing and a miss from Sash.
Sash swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sash throws a nice looking combination but Lova bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lova shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sash pinned against the cage. Sash gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lova slips a jab and a cross from Sash.
Sash throws a series of punches but Lova moves out of range.
Sash cracks Lova with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Sash staying out of range there.
Sash really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sash misses with an uppercut

and Lova counters with a shoot takedown. Sash fights it but they end up in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lova sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sash's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lova is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sash is just riding it out for now. Lova eventually gives up the hold.
Lova works his foot free and advances to mount.
Lova looking to control but Sash is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lova is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sash to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sash shrugs it off.

Lova goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Sash is on top in guard.

Sash would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lova controlling the position.

Lova is looking for a triangle but Sash pushes his legs off easily.
Lova wants to hit a switch here but Sash passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lova there!
Sash prevents Lova from getting the reversal.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dova Lova dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Sash misses with a hook.
Sash ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sash misses the jab.
Lova dives in and grabs Sash's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sash pushes down on Lova's head and hops out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lova.
Sash misses with the combination.
Lova fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Don Sash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dova Lova.
Lova throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sash stuffs the takedown attempt from Lova. Lova gets slowly back to his feet.
Lova misses with a takedown attempt - Sash sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lova misses with a hook.
Sash fails to land with a series of punches.

Sash throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sash jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Don Sash is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lova on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Lova closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sash to the mat! Sash manages to get full guard.
Lova pushing down on Sash's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Lova is trying to work for a kimura but Sash is defending well.
Dova Lova has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lova is looking for a kimura but Sash is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lova to get the leverage.
Sash is staying active underneath Lova, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Lova is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lova is trying to work for a kimura but Sash is defending well.
Sash is not content to let Lova control the position.

Lova looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lova is looking to advance position but Sash won't allow it.

Lova is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sash has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lova is pressing down on Sash's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sash is holding on for now.

Lova seems to be working for a kimura but Sash defends the submission attempt.
Lova passes to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dova Lova showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Sash lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lova circles away quickly and effectively.
Sash displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lova.
Lova looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lova.
Don Sash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dova Lova.

Lova fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sash sprawls well initially but Lova persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lova is trying to work for a kimura but Sash is defending well.

Lova wants to work for an arm triangle but Sash is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Lova is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sash!

Lova has control of Sash's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sash regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Lova moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Sash has worked his arm free - good work by Sash!
Sash is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Sash knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lova on the ground.

Sash stops Lova from passing to mount.

Lova looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Lova trying to control the position but Sash is working away.

Sash wants to get back to his feet but Lova drags him back down.
Lova is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sash will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Sash is pushing Lova's head away, looking to escape. Lova manages to hold on to the position though.
Sash prevents Lova from moving into mount.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lova has knee on belly momentarily but Sash bucks him off and regains half guard.
Lova is trying to control the action in half guard but Sash is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lova is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sash has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lova works his foot free and advances to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dova Lova comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Lova winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
