PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vel Sirra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Marko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sirra comes to the cage accompanied by Omen by Prodigy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marko circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Sirra has closed the distance and engaged Marko in a clinch.
Marko gets underhooks to prevent Sirra's takedown attempt.
Nice body punch from Marko.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sirra creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Sirra is trying to maintain a safe position but Marko gets an underhook and turns Sirra into the cage.
Sirra throws a head punch that misses.
Marko stops a takedown attempt from Sirra.

Marko is trying to trip Sirra. He has hold of a leg but Sirra is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Marko persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Marko cracks Sirra with a solid left hand.
Marko lands a couple of elbows.

Marko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sirra swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Marko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sirra is rocked!
Marko distracts Sirra with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Oh Sirra is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sirra is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Marko manages to get to full guard.
Sirra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marko swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sirra seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sirra is working hard here to advance position.

Sirra thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sirra drops back looking for a leg! Marko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marko manages to kick Sirra off! Sirra jumps back into Marko's guard.
Sirra is breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Marko misses with an uppercut. Sirra saw that one coming.
Cain Marko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marko throws out a loose jab but Sirra uses good head movement to avoid it.
Marko misses with an uppercut.
Marko avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sirra misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sirra checks a leg kick nicely.
Marko changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marko throws a sloppy head kick and Sirra moves out of range easily.
Sirra bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Marko lands a nice shot to the body.
Marko throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Sirra tumbling to the canvas!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marko loads up on a big left hand. Sirra felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Marko looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Sirra can't hide his disappointment, as Marko celebrates the victory.
