Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Kurri!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurri uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brown.
Nice uppercut there from Brown.
Kurri fails with an attempt to clinch.
Brown cracks Kurri with a right hand to the side of the head.
Brown throws a right and a left that both miss.
Brown connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kurri's hands.
Brown misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kurri.

Kurri is rocked!
Kurri shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brown pinned against the cage. Brown gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Kurri decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Brown's guard.

Kurri wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.
Brown pulls Kurri in close to prevent any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Steve Brown wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kurri bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kurri fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Brown checks it well.
Brown displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Kurri fails with a takedown attempt.
Kurri tries to clinch but Brown moves out of range.

Brown lands a body shot.
Brown misses with a wild body shot.
Kurri fails with the takedown.
Steve Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Kurri.
Decent striking displayed by Brown there.
Brown misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kurri shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Kurri keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kurri looks winded!
Brown lands a nice hook to Kurri's body. Kurri takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A punch lands to the side of Kurri 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Brown throws a low kick, looking for Kurri's leg but Kurri calmly moves out of range.
Brown uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kurri has time to react.
Kurri is still on wobbly legs! Can Brown finish him?
Brown looks to land a right hand but Kurri moved out of range.

Kurri is looking to land body kicks.
Kurri seems to have recovered his senses.
Brown digs a good body shot into Kurri's ribs.
Brown throws a jab when Kurri was well out of range.
Brown lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kurri at a distance.

and Kurri counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Brown trying to hold on to Kurri's head to control him but Kurri postures up.
Kurri trying to mount his opponent but Brown defends it.

Kurri thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brown's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kurri is trying to control. Brown wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kurri is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Brown connects with a solid leg kick.
Steve Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kurri tries to clinch there but Brown circles away.
Brown connects with the punch.
Kurri slips a jab from Brown.
Brown fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kurri manages to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Brown misses the target.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Brown lands with a right hand.
Brown attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Brown misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kurri.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Brown dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kurri tries to clinch but Brown is having none of it.

Steve Brown is winning the standup battle so far.
Brown scores with a nice strike.
Brown tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kurri was well out of range. Poor timing from Brown.
Kurri moves away from the strike by Brown.

and Kurri counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kurri.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Brown holds on and takes a little breather.
Kurri trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Brown takes a swing at Kurri's ribcage but misses.
Kurri shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kurri takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Brown throws a big shot that misses.
Kurri shoots in for a double leg but Brown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kurri is breathing heavily.
Kurri fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brown avoids it really well and circles away.
Steve Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Kurri.
Kurri takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Brown punishes Kurri's body with a nice straight punch.
Kurri takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kurri walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Brown dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Brown flashes Kurri a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Kurri's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Kurri crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Brown punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!
