PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gram Prodigy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zed Zeddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gram Prodigy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Zed Zeddy!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zeddy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Prodigy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Prodigy trying to control the position from guard on top but Zeddy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Prodigy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zeddy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zeddy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gram Prodigy just wasn't active enough.
The crowd cheers as Zeddy lands an impressive looking overhand right. Prodigy doesn't seem phased though.

Zeddy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Prodigy on his heels. He'll look to pass Prodigy's guard now, I'm sure.

Zeddy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Zeddy is in close to Prodigy's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Prodigy shoots in and drives through. Zeddy sprawls well.

Zeddy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prodigy manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zeddy is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Zeddy wants to control from the top but Prodigy keeps moving.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Zed Zeddy.
Prodigy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zeddy's waist but Zeddy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Prodigy off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gram Prodigy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zeddy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Prodigy was well out of range. Poor timing from Zeddy.

Prodigy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zeddy. That did some damage!

and Prodigy counters with a three punch combo that has Zeddy backing up. Zeddy nods at Prodigy to acknowledge the strikes.

Prodigy is working for takedown but Zeddy is calmly controlling the position for now.

Zeddy has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Prodigy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Zeddy is striking well from the back but Prodigy escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zeddy in particular looking to stall.

Zeddy is taking a breather. Prodigy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Zeddy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Zeddy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Zeddy feints a jab promting Prodigy to slip. Zeddy then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Prodigy slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Zeddy dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Prodigy has had enough and taps out.
