The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oreily shoots in and bounces De Vries off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Oreily works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Oreily wants to control but De Vries is keeping him busy.
De Vries is looking to improve his position.
De Vries won't allow Oreily to pass to mount.
The fighters are battling for position here. De Vries manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
De Vries ducks right into an uppercut from Oreily.

De Vries changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Oreily looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Oreily is looking for a sweep.
Oreily is working hard here to advance position.
De Vries looks up at the clock and then as Oreily takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, De Vries smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Oreily tries to buck De Vries off but De Vries is having none of it.

De Vries works to advance to full mount. Oreily defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Oreily is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if De Vries gets his way!

De Vries is looking for the choke from the back position but Oreily is controlling his hands well.
Oreily manages to reverse the position and now he's in De Vries's guard. Nice work there by Oreily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De Vries trying to hold on to Oreily's head to control him but Oreily postures up.
Oreily landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Oreily drops an elbow to the side of De Vries's head.
De Vries has hold of Oreily's hands but Oreily slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Oreily is tying to control. De Vries wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Oreily is trying to control the action in half guard but De Vries is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Oreily feints and then cracks De Vries's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow De Vries down.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Oreily has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Oreily is stalling here but it's allowed De Vries to get half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Oreily will probably get the nod.

De Vries drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and De Vries jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
De Vries throws and elbow that misses. Oreily uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in De Vries's guard. Nice move by Oreily!
De Vries is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Oreily sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed De Vries's guard.
Oreily works his foot free and advances to mount.
