PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elwood Buckknuckle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Soplamocos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soplamocos has chosen Eye of the Tiger!!! as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kid Soplamocos!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buckknuckle just misses with a punch to the body.
Buckknuckle takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Soplamocos takes one to the chin there.
That kick from Soplamocos tenderised Buckknuckle's leg. Buckknuckle is trying to keep his angry face on.
Buckknuckle misses with a looping left.
Soplamocos tries to clinch but Buckknuckle is having none of it.
Soplamocos finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Buckknuckle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Soplamocos was covering up waiting for the punch and Buckknuckle finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Buckknuckle cracks Soplamocos with a solid left hand.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Buckknuckle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Buckknuckle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buckknuckle pushes down on Soplamocos's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Soplamocos avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Buckknuckle.
Buckknuckle is looking to advance position but Soplamocos won't allow it.
Soplamocos keeping hold of Buckknuckle's head, controlling as best he can.

Buckknuckle tries for a kimura but Soplamocos is defending well.

Buckknuckle drops an elbow to the side of Soplamocos's head.

Buckknuckle seems to be working for a kimura but Soplamocos defends the submission attempt.
Buckknuckle wants to free his trapped foot but Soplamocos is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Soplamocos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Buckknuckle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Soplamocos regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Buckknuckle.
Buckknuckle working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Soplamocos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Buckknuckle postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Soplamocos trying to keep a closed guard but Buckknuckle is proving a slippery customer.
Buckknuckle passes Soplamocos's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Buckknuckle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Soplamocos's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Buckknuckle lands a nice short elbow.

Soplamocos has control of Buckknuckle's left arm, preventing Buckknuckle from doing any damage.

Soplamocos controls Buckknuckle momentarily but Buckknuckle frees himself.
Soplamocos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Soplamocos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Buckknuckle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Soplamocos.
Buckknuckle takes a kick to the side of the head.
Buckknuckle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Buckknuckle thows a body shot but no joy.
Soplamocos ducks right into an uppercut from Buckknuckle.
Buckknuckle fails with a takedown attempt.

Soplamocos throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Buckknuckle tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Soplamocos is in Buckknuckle's guard.

Buckknuckle has his foot on Soplamocos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Soplamocos works his way back into a safe position though.

Buckknuckle is looking to sinch up a triangle. Soplamocos throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Buckknuckle's body to avoid the submission. Buckknuckle has instead reached around Soplamocos's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Buckknuckle arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
