Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luis Mejias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Scott!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Mejias, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Scott throws a head kick but Mejias moves out of range.
Scott connects with a solid leg kick.
Michael Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott scoring well with a low kick there.
Scott lands with a thumping leg kick.
Mejias takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Scott throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Scott lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Mejias has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Scott.
Good leg kick by Scott there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Scott explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Scott throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Scott motions for Mejias to come forward. Scott throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Michael Scott is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Scott dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mejias. That did some damage!
Some bone on bone action there as Mejias checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Mejias looking to score a takedown here. Scott is defending well but Mejias drives through and ends up in Scott's guard.

Mejias drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mejias jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mejias decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A nice leg kick lands there from Scott.

Scott really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mejias. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mejias is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Scott has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Mejias goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Scott turns into him and now he's in Mejias's guard.

Mejias working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Scott manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mejias scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Scott throws a nice inside leg kick.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Luis Mejias will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mejias's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Scott throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Mejias closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Scott to the mat! Scott manages to get full guard.

Scott is working an open guard so Mejias takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Mejias feints and as Scott raises his hands in defense, Mejias changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mejias gets to his feet - Scott follows without any prompting.
Scott lands with a thumping leg kick.
Mejias will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Scott lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Mejias manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Scott on his heels. He'll look to pass Scott's guard now, I'm sure.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mejias drops back looking for a leg! Scott is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scott manages to kick Mejias off! Mejias jumps back into Scott's guard.

Mejias stands and steps away. Scott gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mejias throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scott's waist but Scott gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mejias off to one side.

Michael Scott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mejias closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mejias seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Mejias is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Scott doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mejias.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
