The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Croswell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Mercades misses with a lunging right hand
and Croswell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Mercades is rocked!
Croswell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mercades circles away quickly and effectively.
Oh Mercades is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Croswell misses with a leg kick.
Mercades misses with a low kick.
Croswell shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mercades eats them both and turns towards Croswell to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Croswell tries to bum rush Mercades with a series of wild strikes but Mercades uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Croswell scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mercades doesn't seem bothered though.

Mercades really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Croswell connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Croswell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Mercades scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Mercades is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Croswell sees it coming and defends easily.
Croswell tries to get to full guard but Mercades has control of the leg.

Mercades is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Croswell is just riding it out for now. Mercades eventually gives up the hold.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Mercades is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Croswell defends it well.

Mercades thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Croswell's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Croswell is looking to control Mercades's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Croswell avoid being mounted?

Mercades has control of Croswell's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Croswell regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Mercades has isolated one of Croswell's arms. Croswell looking to fight him off but Mercades twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
