PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leo Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eric Lesnar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lesnar misses with a double jab.
Smith tries for a takedown but Lesnar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lesnar throws a one two combo.
Smith misses with a takedown
and Lesnar counters with a nice body shot.
Smith tries to clinch there but Lesnar circles away.
Lesnar takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Lesnar throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Lesnar closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage.
Lesnar will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smith up against the cage.
Smith goes for a takedown attempt but Lesnar pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leo Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lesnar leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lesnar moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
Smith tries to clinch up.
Lesnar doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith checks a leg kick.
Smith throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Smith fails to land the takedown.

and Lesnar counters by moving into the clinch.

Smith is trying to pull guard but Lesnar turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Smith is breathing heavily.
A right hook to the body lands for Lesnar.
Smith stalling in the clinch.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lesnar pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A left hand lands to the body for Lesnar.
A frustrated look appears on Smith's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Lesnar tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.

Lesnar breaks the clinch.
Lesnar misses with a series of wild punches.

Lesnar rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage.

Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lesnar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Smith gets control of Lesnar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lesnar wants to stand but Smith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Smith is working an open guard so Lesnar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Smith blocks a head kick by Lesnar.
Lesnar throws a head kick that misses.
Lesnar goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Lesnar lands a jab-cross combination.
Lesnar misses with a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Smith at a distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lesnar throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
Lesnar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lesnar scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Smith takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lesnar moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Lesnar fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lesnar rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage.
Smith tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lesnar smiles and moves away.
Lesnar slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Lesnar dominated that round.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Lesnar throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lesnar.
Lesnar looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Lesnar lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Lesnar stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Sloppy strikes from Lesnar. Those never looked like landing.
A jab from Lesnar does it's job there.
Smith shoots in but Lesnar avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lesnar throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lesnar is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Smith rather than just go for the knockout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lesnar scores with a nice strike.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Lesnar! Smith is backing up but he can't get away as Lesnar lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Smith and ends the fight. Great knockout.
