Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Cullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Cullen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Slater!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slater closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cullen circles away.
Slater tries to clinch but Cullen moves out of range.

Slater drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Slater postures up.
Cullen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Slater won't allow Cullen to sweep him here.
Slater throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cullen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cullen wants to sweep but no luck.
Cullen keeping moving, preventing Slater from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slater postures up in Cullen's guard and throws a big left but Cullen blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Slater has a takedown stuffed.
Cullen scores with a sloppy right hand. Slater should have avoided that one.
Slater lands a nice shot to the body.
Slater fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dan Cullen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Slater.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slater shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cullen as he jumps to the side.

Slater looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cullen!
Slater really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cullen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Slater misses with a head shot.
Cullen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Cullen punching from the bottom.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cullen manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Cullen has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Slater should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Cullen has tightened it up now! Slater should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dan Cullen!
