PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Uncomfortable Positions (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ice Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man has chosen Lights Out as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ice Man was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Positions fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Man checks a leg kick.
Positions fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Man checks it well.
A punch lands to the side of Positions 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Man avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Positions scores a takedown into full mount!
Man is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Positions throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Man avoids a series of strikes thrown by Positions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Positions prevents Man from getting the reversal.
Positions pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Man is trying desperately to improve position.

Man wants to hold on but Positions pushes him away.
Positions landing strikes from the mount.
Positions lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Man hang on?
Man sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Positions thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Man's head.

Man tries to roll over but Positions keeps him under control.
Positions thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Positions throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Man is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Man is holding on to half guard well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Man is looking to control Positions's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Man avoid being mounted?

Positions seems to be working for a kimura but Man defends the submission attempt.
Positions content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Positions thows a huge punch but Man dodges it nicely.
Man is looking for a sweep. Positions is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Positions trying to mount his opponent but Man defends it.
Positions moves into full mount! Man won't be happy about that!

Man manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Positions is working for a submission of some sort.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Man has his hands clasped together around Positions's back. He's all about the action.

Man bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

A left and a right from Man both land. Nice combination.

Man looks to throw the jab but Positions is out of range.
Positions displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Man throws out the jab.
Positions looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Man is fending him off so far but Positions persists. Nope, Man circles away and we're back to standing.
Positions looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Man misses with a wild body shot.
Positions tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Man swivels and escapes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Man throws a right and a left that Positions avoids nicely.
Man swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Man stalks Positions and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Positions's face. Positions staggers backwards, shaken.

Ice Man showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Man moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
A punch combination from Man misses.
Positions lets loose with a powerful body kick. Man will feel that in the morning.
Positions feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Man's calf.
Positions will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Positions lands a head kick. Man smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A big right from Man misses.
Positions takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Positions forces Man back against the cage and clinches.

Man pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Positions looks for the body kick but Man saw that one coming.
Positions thows a body kick. Man tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Man swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Man blocks a head kick by Positions.
Positions walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Man checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Positions uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Man.
Positions misses with a head kick.

Positions decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Positions is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Man sees it coming and defends easily.
Man regains full guard. Nicely done.
Man bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Positions's guard.
Man wants to control from the top but Positions keeps moving.

Man pushing down on Positions's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Man is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Man wants to pass the guard but Positions is defending well.
Man trying to control the pace.
Uncomfortable Positions overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Positions is looking for a sweep. Man is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Man frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Man can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Positions is looking to escape.
Positions is in all sorts of trouble here.

Positions manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Man takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ice Man has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Man lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Positions circles away quickly and effectively.
Man rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Positions moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Man checks the leg kick.
Positions lets loose with a powerful body kick. Man will feel that in the morning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Man scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
