The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meneghetti moves into the clinch successfully.
Da Silva is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Meneghetti is defending well.

Meneghetti jumps guard and drags Da Silva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Da Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Meneghetti is trying to pull guard but Da Silva turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Meneghetti throws a knee to the head but misses.
Da Silva has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meneghetti avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Meneghetti pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Meneghetti shoots in looking for a takedown but Da Silva manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Meneghetti's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A nice right hand lands inside from Da Silva.
Meneghetti is pressed up against the cage. Da Silva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Meneghetti down to the mat. Meneghetti avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Meneghetti gets caught flat footed, as Da Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Da Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jose Da Silva has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Meneghetti fails in his attempt to clinch.
Da Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Meneghetti tries to score a power double leg takedown but Da Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Meneghetti somewhat.
Meneghetti is breathing heavily.

Meneghetti decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Da Silva has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Meneghetti. Oh but Da Silva has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Meneghetti goes limp - he's gone! Da Silva jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
