Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joaquin Fortunado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Apollo Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fortunado comes into the arena with Stairway to Heaven blaring out of the sound system. Jackson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. LIVING IN AMERICA BY JAMES BROWN kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joaquin Fortunado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Apollo Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jackson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fortunado pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fortunado looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Fortunado throws a leg kick which misses Jackson's front leg but catches the back leg as Jackson tries to avoid it.

An inside leg kick from Fortunado misses.

Jackson scores with a takedown into Fortunado's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Fortunado working for a triangle but Jackson defends it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fortunado is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well.
Jackson postures up in Fortunado's guard and throws a big left but Fortunado blocks it.

Jackson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fortunado works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Fortunado is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Jackson won't allow Fortunado to sweep him here.
Jackson distracts Fortunado with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Fortunado has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Fortunado is retaining full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fortunado lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!

Fortunado with shots to the head and body - Jackson looks very uncomfortable down there.

It looks like Apollo Jackson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fortunado lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jackson hang on?
Jackson wants to control but Fortunado is having none of it.

Jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


That has opened up Apollo Jackson's cut even more.

Fortunado takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jackson can't escape the position.
Fortunado thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Fortunado is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jackson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


The cut above Apollo Jackson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Fortunado lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


Apollo Jackson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Apollo Jackson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Joaquin Fortunado!
A less than humble Joaquin Fortunado misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
