The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nigobson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Riverboat.
Riverboat throws a lazy right hand but Nigobson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Riverboat bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Nigobson, as that shot connected.
Nigobson throws out a loose jab but Riverboat uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nigobson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Riverboat on the side of the head.
Riverboat throws a right and a left that Nigobson avoids nicely.
Riverboat thows a leg kick but Nigobson checks it
and Nigobson counters with a nice uppercut.
Riverboat tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nigobson is able to avoid easily.

Nigobson shoots in and drives through. Riverboat sprawls well.
Riverboat fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Riverboat tries to move into range but Nigobson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Riverboat counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nigobson thinking.
Nigobson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Riverboat swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Riverboat slaps away a takedown attempt from Nigobson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Riverboat throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nigobson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nigobson throws a body punch but Riverboat moves out of range.

Riverboat takes a swing at Nigobson's ribcage but misses.

Riverboat lands a left and a right that send Nigobson crashing to the mat, dazed. Riverboat thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Kert Nigobson has been cut.
Nigobson shoots in looking for a takedown but Riverboat manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nigobson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kert Nigobson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nigobson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Riverboat throws a shot from downtown. Nigobson moves away and avoids it.

Riverboat sends Nigobson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Riverboat is motioning to the referee to let Nigobson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Nigobson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Riverboat as he jumps to the side.
Kert Nigobson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Riverboat gets tackled into the cage by Nigobson. Nigobson maintains the clinch.
Nigobson has Riverboat pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Riverboat manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Riverboat lands a right hand that snaps the head of Nigobson backwards.

Riverboat dips a shoulder and cracks Nigobson with a mighty uppercut! Nigobson falls back against the cage and Riverboat unloads with a barrage of strikes! Nigobson is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Riverboat screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
