Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Soares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brenen Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Soares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brenen Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Phillips shoots in and drives through. Soares sprawls well.
Phillips throws out a leg kick but Soares moves out of range and Phillips only half commits.
Soares fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Phillips avoids it really well and circles away.
Brenen Phillips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phillips fails with the takedown.
No luck for Phillips with that takedown attempt.
Marcos Soares has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brenen Phillips.
Soares misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Phillips throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Soares's waist but Soares gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Phillips off to one side.
Soares will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Soares displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Phillips.
Soares has a takedown stuffed.
Soares really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Soares shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Phillips but Phillips pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Soares stuffs the takedown.
Nice takedown defense from Soares. No joy for Phillips on that attempt.

Soares closes the distance and pushes Phillips back into the cage.
Soares jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Phillips walks away with a smile on his face. Soares gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Phillips closes this distance looking for a takedown but Soares circles away.
Phillips looks gassed!
Phillips fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Phillips looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Soares is looking to clinch.
Phillips has a takedown stuffed.
Soares shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A thudding body kick lands there by Soares!
Soares closes the distance and clinches up with Phillips, looking for a takedown. Soares pushes Phillips against the cage but Phillips circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Soares tries to close the distance and clinch up but Phillips swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phillips misses with a two punch combination.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Soares.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Soares is defended easily by Phillips.
Phillips shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Soares defends it nicely.
Soares stuffs the takedown attempt from Phillips. Phillips gets slowly back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phillips shoots in for a double leg but Soares sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Soares is looking to clinch but Phillips is avoiding it.

and Phillips counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Phillips throwing shots but Soares is blocking nicely.
Soares controlling the position for now.

Phillips is trying to work for a kimura but Soares is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Phillips prevents Soares from improving his position.

Phillips is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Phillips has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Phillips seems to be working for a kimura but Soares defends the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Phillips is trying to work for a kimura but Soares is defending well.
Soares is pressing down on Phillips's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Phillips trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Phillips stands up over Soares, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Phillips slips nicely into half guard.
Soares knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Phillips on the ground.

Phillips is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Phillips prevents Soares from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brenen Phillips dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Soares looks for a takedown but Phillips sprawls well.
Phillips shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Soares as he avoids it easily.
Phillips shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Soares defends it nicely.
Marcos Soares has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brenen Phillips.
Soares slaps away a takedown attempt from Phillips, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Soares shoots in looking for a takedown but Phillips manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Soares's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Phillips is breathing heavily.

Phillips closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Soares's guard.
Soares looking to control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Phillips accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Soares is trying to hold Phillips in close to prevent damage but Phillips has managed to pass into half guard.

Phillips is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Phillips is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Soares is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
