Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rhys Cao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Storm is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: AC/DC - Thunderstruck. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rhys Cao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Storm!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cao misses with a straight right.
Storm lands with a hook. Cao tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cao throws a jab but it's blocked by Storm.
Cao misses with a wild body shot.
Johnny Storm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cao throws a left and a right that both miss
and Storm counters with a straight right hand.
A solid leg kick lands there for Storm.
Storm misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cao will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Storm pushes Cao away with a front kick.

Cao misses with a wild body shot.
An inside leg kick lands from Storm.
Storm misses with a looping left.
Cao connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Storm's hands.
Storm feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Cao's calf.
Cao throws a right hand that Storm ducks under and follows up with a left that Storm also avoids with ease.
Cao throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Storm throws a looping overhand right but Cao ducks down to avoid it.
Storm scores with a jab. Cao acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Storm throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Storm uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cao.
Storm chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Cao lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cao. Storm does a little dance to reset his feet.
Storm dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cao. That did some damage!
Storm looks to score with a jab to the body but Cao is just out of range.
Storm throws a hook to the side of Cao's head but Cao sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Cao slips a straight right by Storm.
Cao throws a hook but Storm avoids it easily.
Cao bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Storm uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cao has time to react.
Storm takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Cao misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cao will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cao on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Storm connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Storm throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A big right from Storm misses.
Storm misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Storm tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cao lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cao keeps the fight on the outside.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cao avoids a kick to the body.
Storm fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cao has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Storm dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Storm lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cao circles away quickly and effectively.

Cao connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Storm momentarily.
Storm throws a leg kick but Cao sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Storm digs a good body shot into Cao's ribs.

Storm fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Cao checks it well.
Cao tries to clinch
and Storm counters with an inside leg kick.
Storm lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cao circles away quickly and effectively.

Storm feints and then cracks Cao's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cao down.
Cao is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Storm gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cao tries a body shot but Storm blocks it.
Storm scores with a shot to the side of Cao's head.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Storm.
Storm prevents Cao from breaking the clinch.
Cao is trying to force a seperation but Storm has the dominant position.
Cao will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Storm up against the cage.
Storm fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Storm blocking some punches.
Cao doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

A right handed body shot lands from Cao.
Cao stalling in the clinch but Storm improves position.
Storm swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Storm breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cao circles away from the clinch attempt.
Storm connects with a solid leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Storm is looking to slow Cao down with leg kicks.
Cao uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Storm.
Good leg kick by Storm there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Cao slips a jab from Storm.
Storm defending well as Cao loads up on a big left hand.

Storm circles away from the clinch attempt.
Storm displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cao throws out the jab.
Cao scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Storm doesn't seem bothered though.
Cao lands a jab to the nose.
Cao throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Storm sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Storm fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cao.
Cao ducks under a wild hook from Storm.
Storm tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Cao counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Nice defenses there by Cao.
Storm lets loose with a powerful body kick. Cao will feel that in the morning.
Storm goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Rhys Cao has been cut.
Storm misses with an uppercut. Cao saw that one coming.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Storm tries to clinch there but Cao circles away.
Cao throws a body punch but Storm moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Storm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cao wants to get back to striking at distance but Storm won't allow it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Storm lands a leg kick that knocks Cao off balance momentarily.
Storm throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Cao throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Storm stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Storm uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cao.

Storm connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Cao misses with a hook.
Storm lands with a shot to the body.

Johnny Storm is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The fight stays on the outside here - Storm looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnny Storm comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Storm has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
