The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Mendez.
Santana tries a head kick but it misses.
Mendez throws a right hand that Santana ducks under and follows up with a left that Santana also avoids with ease.
Mendez throws a series of punches but Santana avoids them all with ease.
Santana tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santana somewhat.
Mendez misses with a head kick.

Santana closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mendez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Santana is controlling him well.

Santana decides to stand back up.
Mendez misses with a double jab.

Mendez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mendez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Santino Santana has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Santana looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mendez is fending him off so far but Santana persists. Nope, Mendez circles away and we're back to standing.

Mendez closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Mendez closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Santana out cold! Santana corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
