PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Blake Fickett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lion Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fickett might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Yankee Rose. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fickett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bear tries to avoid it but Fickett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bear to the ground. Bear escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bear goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Fickett shoots for a double leg takedown but Bear sprawls well. He's pushed Fickett's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fickett bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bear drives through and clinches with Fickett against the cage.

Blake Fickett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fickett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bear pinned against the cage. Bear gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bear throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fickett feints and as Bear raises his hands in defense, Fickett changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bear really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fickett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fickett trying to control the position from guard on top but Bear is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fickett jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bear manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Fickett is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bear is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A head kick lands from Bear that sends Fickett to the canvas. Fickett tries to scramble back to his feet but Bear brings him back down into side control.
Bear wants to stand but Fickett is controlling his arm.
Bear gets to mount! Fickett was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Fickett tries to hold on but Bear pushes him away.

Fickett is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Fickett is working hard here to advance position.
Bear takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fickett jumps guard but Bear stands there with Fickett around his waist. Fickett gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Lion Bear showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fickett has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bear uses from the top position.

Fickett had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bear is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fickett Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bear's back instead.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fickett is looking for a choke. Bear gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Bear manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Bear wants to stand but Fickett is controlling his posture from full guard.

Fickett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bear manages to get himself to full guard.
Fickett won't allow Bear to sweep him here.
Bear is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fickett is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fickett drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bear looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bear looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bear!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fickett gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Fickett tries to roll over but Bear keeps him under control.
Blake Fickett has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lion Bear comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bear winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
