PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Krzysztof Jarzyna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jarzyna kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Prodigy - Omen. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Krzysztof Jarzyna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Warner!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Jarzyna.
Nice defenses there by Warner.
Jarzyna fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Warner manages to avoid it.
A big left from Jarzyna misses.
Warner takes one on the button.
Jarzyna misses with a hook
and Warner counters with a leg kick.
Jarzyna loads up on a big right hand but Warner slips the punch.
Warner closes the distance and clinches up with Jarzyna, looking for a takedown. Warner pushes Jarzyna against the cage but Jarzyna circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Warner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jarzyna sprawls well. Jarzyna wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Warner gets slowly back to his feet.
Jarzyna throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A telegraphed right hand from Jarzyna misses the target.
Jarzyna throws a looping overhand right but Warner ducks down to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warner swats away the attempt to clinch by Jarzyna.
Warner staying out of range there.
Jarzyna looks to throw the jab but Warner is out of range.
Jarzyna scores with a one two! Warner had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Jarzyna throws a leg kick that is checked

and Warner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jarzyna's guard now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jarzyna bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warner's guard.
Warner looking to control.
Jarzyna looking to sit in guard and control but Warner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jarzyna striking off his back but it's not causing Warner any problems.

Jarzyna trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Warner postures up in Jarzyna's guard and throws a big left but Jarzyna blocks it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jarzyna is on top in guard.

Warner looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jarzyna throws a big right hand that misses.

Warner controls Jarzyna momentarily but Jarzyna frees himself.
Jarzyna has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Warner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jarzyna is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warner keeping full guard, as Jarzyna tries to pass.
Jarzyna lands a couple of elbows.
Jarzyna wants to control from the top but Warner keeps moving.
Warner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jarzyna!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warner with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Krzysztof Jarzyna dominated that round.
That's time! Jarzyna's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Warner fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jarzyna has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Jarzyna misses with a looping left.
Krzysztof Jarzyna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jarzyna tries to clinch but Warner moves out of range.
Jarzyna lands a nice hook to Warner's body. Warner takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jarzyna leaves Warner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Warner shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Jarzyna misses with a double jab.

Jarzyna is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Jarzyna swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Warner counters with a takedown into side control.

Warner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Warner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Warner landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Warner works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Warner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jarzyna, who protects the arm well.
Jarzyna tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Warner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Warner is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jarzyna has escaped the position, nice work there.
Warner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Warner lands some shots froms side control.

Jarzyna tries to improve position but can't.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Warner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Warner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jarzyna knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Warner on the ground.
Jarzyna is trying to get back to half guard.

Warner is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Jarzyna is trying to escape and Warner transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Jarzyna is forced to tap! Nice work there by Warner! Very nice indeed!
