And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Richard Burger!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez tries to clinch but Burger moves out of range.
Burger throws a nice outside leg kick.
Alvarez has his takedown stuffed

and Burger moves into the clinch.
Burger unloads a knee to the mid-section. Alvarez lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Alvarez is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Burger lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Enrique Alvarez has been cut.
Burger landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Burger is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Burger putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Alvarez in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Burger creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Alvarez's defenses.

Burger breaks the clinch.

Burger darts in and clinches Alvarez up against the cage.

Burger will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Alvarez won't allow Burger to get back to his feet.

Alvarez jumps guard but Burger stands there with Alvarez around his waist. Alvarez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Burger lands a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Burger's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Burger pushes Alvarez up against the cage in a clinch.
Burger is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Burger scores a nice knee to the body.
Burger is working Alvarez over against the cage.

Burger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Burger closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alvarez did well to prevent Burger getting side control.
It looks like Burger is going to stand back up.
Burger uses his free foot to push down on Alvarez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alvarez.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burger controlling his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Burger has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Richard Burger has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Burger has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alvarez wants to break free but Burger has control.
Burger lands a knee to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Burger breaks the clinch.

Burger rushes Alvarez and presses him up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Burger is stalling here.
Alvarez takes an elbow to the temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Burger dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Enrique Alvarez's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Burger knocks Alvarez to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?


Alvarez is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Burger decides to stand back up.
Oh Alvarez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Burger closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Burger unloads an enormous knee to the head! That's knocked Alvarez out cold! Holy cow, it was almost as if it lifted Alvarez off his feet!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Richard Burger!
An out of breath Richard Burger thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
