The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico looks to score with a jab to the body but Copley is just out of range.
Rico keeps the fight on the outside.
A slow jab from Rico misses its intended target.
Rico tests Copley's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Copley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rico manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Copley swings wildly with an uppercut but Rico uses good head movement to avoid it.

Copley is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rico is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Copley to the mat. Copley regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Copley wants to stand but Rico is controlling the position.
Copley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rico postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
