The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Makritsky darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Makritsky attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Gaggle is looking to clinch but Makritsky is avoiding it.

Makritsky instigates a clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Gaggle throws an elbow but misses.
A hook to the body from Makritsky.
Makritsky trying to stall but Gaggle improves his position.
Come on Makritsky - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Gaggle ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gaggle no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gaggle keeping moving, preventing Makritsky from controlling successfully.
Makritsky is really struggling to control Gaggle but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaggle wants to sweep here but Makritsky controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vadim Makritsky.
Makritsky lands a body shot.
No luck for Gaggle with that takedown attempt.

Gaggle moves into the clinch successfully.

Makritsky gets underhooks to prevent Gaggle's takedown attempt.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Makritsky creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Gaggle digs a right hand into Makritsky's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Makritsky's gas tank.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Makritsky pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Makritsky jabs at Gaggle's body.

Makritsky clinches up with Gaggle and pushes him back against the cage.

Makritsky has hold of one of Gaggle's legs. Gaggle is fighting the takedown attempt but Makritsky gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Makritsky is stalling in the full guard.
Gaggle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Makritsky scores with a body shot.
Makritsky circles away from the clinch attempt
and Makritsky counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gaggle on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Makritsky feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gaggle sprawling to the canvas! Gaggle rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Makritsky finish him?!

Gaggle is rocked!
Makritsky batters Gaggle with a massive right followed by a huge left! Gaggle is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Makritsky lands a final crushing right hand to drop Gaggle to the mat with a gruesome thud! Makritsky is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
