Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Lim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoff Sanburg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincent Lim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Geoff Sanburg!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanburg throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lim shoots for a takedown but Sanburg saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lim walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sanburg checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Sanburg avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sanburg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lim circles away quickly and effectively.
Sanburg throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lim throws a series of punches but Sanburg moves out of range.
Lim really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lim throws a right and a left that Sanburg avoids nicely.

Lim darts in and clinches Sanburg up against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Sanburg tightens his grip and picks Lim up, before dumping him to the ground. Lim manages to land in guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Sanburg avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sanburg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lim swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sanburg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lim throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sanburg tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lim is in Sanburg's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lim is breathing heavily.
Sanburg looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lim is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lim takes a decent strike to the side of the head.

Lim sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sanburg's guard.
Sanburg gets back to full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lim trying to control but Sanburg is working from the bottom.
Sanburg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lim. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sanburg looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lim is one step ahead there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sanburg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sanburg throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lim.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lim closes the distance looking to clinch

and Sanburg counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lim won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geoff Sanburg dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lim closes the distance and clinches up with Sanburg, looking for a takedown. Lim pushes Sanburg against the cage but Sanburg circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sanburg stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sanburg wants it to stay on the feet.

Geoff Sanburg has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sanburg wants to free his trapped foot but Lim is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Still in half guard, Sanburg seems content to control.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sanburg has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lim's face.

Sanburg tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

This has been an exciting period of action!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Geoff Sanburg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Sanburg is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lim is controlling him.
Sanburg pulls Lim in close to prevent any damage.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Geoff Sanburg hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lim tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sanburg swivels and escapes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Vincent Lim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanburg scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Nice takedown defense from Sanburg. No joy for Lim on that attempt.

Lim shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sanburg but Sanburg pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sanburg changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lim looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well Sanburg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Geoff Sanburg was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
